Valentino Aftershave & Men's Fragrance

Valentino Garavani has just returned from France when he decided to create his own label in 1960. With financial help from his father he opened an impressive store on the Via Veneto in Rome and started selling his luxurious designs to affluent Italian customers. He soon established a local celebrity following which caught the attention of first lady Jackie Kennedy. The recent widow ended up ordering 6 haute couture dresses in black and white which she would wear during her year of morning her first husband’s death. The fashion icon’s attention immediately made the Italian label famous and Valentino went on to dress the who-is-who of the red carpets of the world. Today Valentino himself has retired from his position but his company is more successful than ever with an annual revenue of over 1 Billion US-Dollars.

The label’s aesthetic has always been inspired by the city of Rome and its collections are as timeless as the eternal city itself. Not just through his cameo appearance in the 2006 hit film “The Devil Wears Prada” has Valentino Garavani’s been identified as one of the most important fashion icons of all time. To honour his legacy, some of his brand’s most defining pieces, including over 100 haute couture gowns, were presented in a special exhibition at Somerset House in London between November 2012 and March 2013. The company’s product catalogue of clothing, shoes, accessories and fragrances are available in over 1300 points of sale, including a newly opened flagship store in Milan which was designed in collaboration with famous architect David Chipperfield in a Palazzo style and consists of several different rooms all decorated to compliment the collections on show.

The line of Valentino men’s fragrances was first introduced with the release of Vendatta Uomo (1991), a seductive leather scent. Other popular fragrances from the brand’s catalogue are the oriental Very Valentino for Men (1999) and the Valentino Uomo collection introduced with Valentini Uomo (2014), a sexy leather scent with delicate top notes of bergamot and myrtle on a warm and aromatic heart of roasted coffee beans, chocolate and hazelnut and a base of leather and cedar. Valentino Cologne from this collection is presented in rounded bottles recalling the famous rock stud design. The collection was recently extended with the oriental Valentino Uomo 2015 which varies from the original edition through a new base note of tender chocolate and aromatic roast coffee. Thanks to its pitch black bottle this fragrance is also known as Valentino Uomo Noir.
