Abercrombie & Fitch Perfume & Women's Fragrance

Founded in 1892, Abercrombie & Fitch is one of the most adventurous and daring women's fashion and fragrance brands to date. Established in New York in 1892 by 2 men – David T. Abercrombie & Ezra Fitch, this controversial leading retailer in women's fashion has flagship stores in Canada, Puerto Rico, Europe & Asia and over 300 stores in the United States - the headquarters being based in New Albany, Ohio - and has firmly cemented their place amongst the retailer giants. The original ethos behind the company was to be an elite outfitter of sporting & excursion goods and they became well known for expensive shotguns, fishing rods and tents.

The first store outside of the USA was opened in Beirut in the 1960's and today their international success grows from strength to strength, particularly amongst women's perfumes and clothing. Currently, Abercrombie & Fitch sell products mostly to the youth market and promote their products as an aspirational 'casual luxury' lifestyle brand. The company has continuously maintained a high profile in the public eye and not always for the right reasons but this does not seem to have affected their reputation as they now boast 4 major brands in women's clothing and fragrance in stores across the world.

Perfume No. 1 is considered to be the signature scent for women from Abercrombie & Fitch and was first released in 2011. The scent is symbolic of the founding beliefs of this radical clothing company, who is often criticised for it's philanthropy and caught up in legal battles. The fragrance is woody with balsamic and citrus notes – all strong, key notes that together make an empowering fragrance - but at the same time the overall scent is advertised as being a fresh and feminine scent with a splash of luxury, so although unpredictable and surprising, this perfume is a constant and successful scent amongst the best sellers for Abercrombie & Fitch.

Other perfumes that remain popular from this modern and trendy establishment are Ezra (2006), 41 (2007), Wakely (2009), 8 for Women & Classic for Women. Although it is predominantly men who have risen to fame through the provocative and controversial advertising campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch, we must not neglect to mention the celebrity women who have featured in their campaigns – Jennifer Lawrence (2006), Sienna Miller, January Jones, Heidi Klum (2002) and Olivia Wilde (2004) to name a few who have helped to supply a clean inspiration to this preppy, youthful, All-American lifestyle.

Sadly things don't always go to plan and Abercrombie & Fiutch have featured in some of the biggest backlashes & social media petitions to date – a couple of the most well known being the fact that they once would only supply clothes up to size 10, claiming that any bigger sizes were undesirable & unsuitable to wear their clothes, and also the introduction of thong style underwear launched by Abercrombie Kids, one of the subsidiaries of this iconic brand. Pleasingly these are stories of the past and have long been resolved and Abercrombie & Fitch today are completely opposed to any discrimination, bullying, derogatory characterizations or other anti-social behavior based on race, gender, body type or other individual characteristics.
