Hello Kitty Perfume & Women's Fragrance

Hello Kitty is a fictional character introduced by Japanese company Sanrio in 1974. Originally created to boost sales of company merchandise by adding cute details, the little cat was added to a vinyl purse next to the word hello. The Hello Kitty design led to unexpected success for Sanrio and just 2 years later they started selling Hello Kitty products to the USA. The steadily expanding range of Hello Kitty products included toys, clothing, accessories and even home appliances and bank accounts as well as Hello Kitty fragrances.

Hello Kitty was initially marketed to appeal to children but with its rising success Sanrio changed their marketing strategies and started to sell products to adults as well. This led to a number of collaborations with well-established, luxury brands such as guitar manufacturer Fender and nail care brand OPI. Especially fond of the cartoon cat, people in Taiwan can have their child in a Hello Kitty themed maternity hospital and fly on holiday in a Hello Kitty Airbus.

The Hello Kitty perfume collection includes mainly female scents aimed at the younger wearer. Examples of this are the sweet and fruity fragrances Hello Kitty Eau de Toilette and Hello Kitty Girl. Aimed at the more mature woman, Hello Kitty Woman (2009) is a floral fruity perfume which was created by perfumer Corinne Cachen who has also created fragrances for brands like Montblanc and The Body Shop. The female fragrance includes notes of licorice, vanilla, raspberry and frangipani.
Canadian Popstar Avril Lavigne referenced the Japanese cat in her 2013 song Hello Kitty. Since 1983 Hello Kitty has been the US children's ambassador for Unicef. On Hello Kitty's 40th birthday the brand was worth billions and appears on over 50,000 products sold to more than 60 countries worldwide.
