Famous for her role as Charlene in Neighbours, Kylie Minogue has spent years working hard to be come a nation's global sweetheart. One of her latest roles is using her knowledge and experience of her 30 years in the music industry to coach young, more inexperienced hopeful singers on the BBC 1 show 'The Voice' and she is also a very successful business woman and entrepreneur at the same time. Although she lives and works in London, Minogue originates from Australia along with her famous sister Dannii (also a successful pop singer) and has spent years building up her career as a singer, recording artist, songwriter and actress.
Born on May 28th 1968, Kylie Minogue (often known as just Kylie) has found fame through many avenues – one of the biggest being her music career. She has sold over 70 million record sales worldwide and has received many notable music awards, including multiple Brit Awards and a Grammy Award. She has embarked on multiple worldwide sell-out tours and has even received awards for her live performances. She was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2008 "for services to music". It is one of the most comprehensive award lists for a female solo artist to date and Kylie is the third best selling female artist to date.
It hasn't all been plain sailing for this pop princess though – in 2005, at the height of her music career, Kylie was suddenly diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy to treat the illness. During this time her showbiz career took a back seat and it was during this period of convelescence that Minogue wrote her first book and launched her soon to be successful fragrance range. Because of her young age and celebrity status, Minogue was also able to highlight the need for regular checks for breast cancer amongst young women and helped to promote it's cause.
The first fragrance to be launched by Kylie was called 'Darling' and was released in 2006. All of Kylie's perfumes reflect her nature and personality they are sweet but they have a twist of zing, something a little bit unexpected, not too predictable. They pack a punch even in a small bottle when needs be. Darling has an oriental base, perhaps stemming from Minogue's australian roots and contains tropical fruits such as passion fruit and lychee harmonised with freesia. Since the success and release of this floral fragrance, Kylie has released over 10 more women's perfumes, approximately one a year and has even ventured into the men's fragrances and aftershaves too.
Through her entrepreneurial skills, abundance of talent and inspirational stories, kylie Minogue has become an inspiration amongst the public of many nations, especially the women. She has said to influence many women celebrities including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Katy Perry, Destiny's Child, Madonna and Lady Gaga. The amount of women going to be checked for breast cancer has significantly increased since Kylie's experience became public knowledge and often being recognised as one of the most influential and inspirational women of all time.
