Marc Jacobs Perfume & Women's Fragrance

Born and raised in New York City, Marc Jacobs is one of the most successful designers today. His self-titled company has over 200 stores worldwide and offers female and male fashion, shoes, bags, accessories as well as a range of popular fragrances and beauty products. The slightly more affordable secondary brand Marc by Marc Jacobs was introduced in 2001 but was absorbed back into the main company in 2015.

Marc Jacobs was born in New York City in 1963 where he later studied at the renowned Parson's School for Design. At Parson's he quickly made an impact and created a line of sweaters that would become his breakthrough. Hand-knitted by his grandmother, who he describes as major influence and inspiration on his work, the sweater collection was a huge success. In 1986, when he was only 24 years old, the first collection under the label Marc Jacobs was introduced, for which he was honoured with the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America's Perry Ellis award. Jacobs is the youngest laureate in the history of the prize. His success gained him a position as creative director at Perry Ellis International. In 1992 he presented the infamous Grunge Collection for Perry Ellis. The street-style inspired collection was initially met with critique and famously cost him his job. In the same year he was awarded the Women's Designer of the Year Award. He was appointed creative director of Louis Vuitton in 1997. During his 16 years at the fashion giant he managed to quadruple the profits and turned Louis Vuitton into a global fashion player in the process. His work was honoured in an exhibition at the Parisian Les Arts Décoratif in 2012. A year later the multi-award winning designer announced his withdrawal from the position to concentrate on his own label.

Jacobs actively supports gay rights and the legalisation of gay marriage. Jacobs' project “Protect the Skin You're In” supports research about melanoma and the effects of the sun on the skin.

Marc Jacobs released its first fragrance in 2001 with the floral signature fragrance Marc Jacobs for Women. In 2006 the brand introduced an ever growing range of 300ml affordable splash-fragrances focussing on a specific note each. The female range includes scents like Rain, Grass, Cotton and Ivy while the unisex range consists of notes like Basil, Pear, Hibiscus and Grapefruit. The very successful Daisy range was first introduced in 2007 with Daisy, which was followed by scents like Daisy Eau so Fresh (2011), Daisy Delight (2014), Daisy Dream (2014) and Daisy Sorbet (2015). Other popular perfumes from Marc Jacobs are Dot (2012), Lola (2009), Honey (2013) and Decadence (2015). Released in cooperation with Coty, Marc Jacobs fragrances were developed with world-leading perfumers including Yann Vasnier, Ann Gottlieb, Alberto Morillas, Loc Dong and Annie Buzantian.
